Get Baby to Drink Cow's Milk
Get Baby to Drink Cow's Milk

Trying to wean a toddler form breast milk to cow's milk is not always easy. But here is a little trick I learned!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cow's milk
  • bottle or sippy cup
  • powder chocolate nutrition drink such as Olvatine or Carnation's Instant Breakfast
  1. Step 1

Pour Milk into bottle or sippy cup.

  2. Step 2

Add just a little bit of the chocolate mix. You don't make it an actual chocolate drink, but just enough for some flavor.

  3. Step 3

    Put lid on and shake.

  4. Step 4

Watch baby guzzle it down when before they would throw the bottle or sippy cup on the floor! Hallelujah!

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not start your baby on Cow's milk or any other type of milk, besides breast milk and formula, until after their first birthday.
  • Always watch your baby for allergies when introducing anything new to their diet.
  • It is recommended that you give your baby whole milk fortified with vitamin D after their first birthday.

on 7/7/2008 The carnation instant breakfast mix is nutritious and if you use just a little bit to get them started, you can gradually reduce the amount. I started out doing this and now my toddler drinks plain cow's milk.

on 7/6/2008 This is not a good idea if you want your baby to learn good eating habits. Just don't be impatient, keep giving him cow's milk and within a couple of weeks he will learn to like it and eventually drink more. Just don't be in a rush. If he still won't take to it, maybe he just isn't ready yet.
