Things You'll Need:
- TV
- DTV Converter Box
- Antenna
- Cables
-
Step 1
First you need to connect the TV antenna into the antenna in on the digital converter box. This is the basic coax cable (screw on type).
-
Step 2
Next, you will need to take the TV output from the converter box into the back of your TV. You will have the option of using the RCA cables (red white and yellow) of the coax cable out (screw on type).
-
Step 3
Lastly, you will need to set the TV onto either the AV (also might be called input, TV/Video or device) setting that you connected into if you connected with the RCA cables. If you connected with the coax type cable, you will need to have the TV set to channel 3 or 4 depending on the box.
-
Step 4
Keep in mind, you will now be changing the channels with the DTV box remote and not the TV's remote. You will still have to use the TV remote for power and volume.

on 6/13/2009 RSandoval is right. This article just doesn't describe how to connect a DTV converter to an old TV. Old TVs don't have RCA connections. Sometimes, they don't have coaxial. Instead, they have an UHV/VHF frequency splitter that you have to connect manually. All you need is a coax to UHF/VHF cable if the television isn't too severely old (70s on).

on 6/13/2009 This article does not address old tv's Old tv's do not have connections on the back, they have never used coax calbes, they never had cables period. There are no red, white, yellow or any other color coded input/output capabilities. They never had remote controls. They are manually turned on/off and the channels are manually changed.
Does anybody have any idea whatsoever on how to connect a digital converer box to an old tv?
