Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- TV
- DTV Converter Box
- Antenna
- Cables
Step1
First you need to connect the TV antenna into the antenna in on the digital converter box. This is the basic coax cable (screw on type).
Step2
Next, you will need to take the TV output from the converter box into the back of your TV. You will have the option of using the RCA cables (red white and yellow) of the coax cable out (screw on type).
Step3
Lastly, you will need to set the TV onto either the AV (also might be called input, TV/Video or device) setting that you connected into if you connected with the RCA cables. If you connected with the coax type cable, you will need to have the TV set to channel 3 or 4 depending on the box.
Step4
Keep in mind, you will now be changing the channels with the DTV box remote and not the TV's remote. You will still have to use the TV remote for power and volume.

on 9/12/2008 If you're looking for instructions on how to hook it up to your VCR, visit http://www.dtv.gov/publications.html. This is the official FCC site and they have more advanced instructions.

on 6/15/2008 I have searched and searched trying to get the information on how to run the converter box through the VCR to the TV so that I will still be able to use it to record, but I have not found that answer anywhere. It's almost like they don't want to tell us that a piece of equipment that we own will be useless even if it is still good. The government should have to buy them all back from us, or at least subsidize the stores so that we can trade them in for a DVR. Sheesh.
