The realm of BMX biking is a dangerous one for the many people who like to bust tricks on their BMX bikes. This is because you are hurtling through the air on a piece of metal and rubber and the only thing to break your fall is the ground or wooden ramps. But there are ways to practice BXM bike tricks safely. These steps will show you how.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Protective gear
  • Practice ramps
  • Safety mats
  • BMX bike
  1. Step 1

Set up the ideal practice area. You will need to have a spacious amount of riding ground. If you have a dirt backyard you can easily create dirt ramps to jump from. Make sure to lay safety mats in front of the dirt ramps in case you fall. This way you will fall onto a padded mat as opposed to the hard ground.

  2. Step 2

Don the protective gear. Always wear protective gear. This includes a helmet, arm pads, wrist guards, knee pads and using safety mats near your ramps or other landing areas. The more protective gear that you have, the less likely you are to sustain an injury.

  3. Step 3

Set up the ramps to shoot over the mats. You can either use wood to build your ramps or you can build dirt ramps. Make sure to place safety mats near all of the ramps so you fall on those as opposed to ground.

  4. Step 4

Practice your tricks safely. Now you can ramp ride and try to bust those mid-air moves without having to worry about breaking an arm or a leg if you fall.

Tips & Warnings
  • The more mats that you have the better to break your fall and prevent injury.
  • Always wear protective gear.
