When inside the Windows firewall screen, make sure the green "On" radio button is selected. If not, go ahead and turn it on. You will be able to see it right away and could be getting security alerts on your taskbar in the lower right-hand corner.

  4. Step 4

Click "OK" and click the red "X" in the upper right hand corner to exit out of this screen. You should now be protected.

  5. Step 5

There are two other tabs in the security screen for exceptions to software and ports, you generally do not need these as software can often configure itself to run with a firewall.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not run two firewalls, as they may conflict with each other. If your security software provides a firewall, you may wish to turn windows firewall off or the software can do this for you.
