Try to get your child to understand that you expect her to focus on schoolwork. There will be boys that she will like but that is not her focus. Tell her that she will know if a boy likes her and respects her by not trying to get her in a compromising position.

• A tween daughter aged 11 to 12. Try to catch her either way right before her first period (menarche) or right at her first period.
• A calm personality so she does not feel that her first period is a “crisis” or something to be ashamed of.

1. holy matrimony That’s another issue. I once read that a man “tells” you who he is within the first 30 seconds and that you should not ignore the signs or “red flags” that he or the situation is not right. Did you notice how the boy in the story said what he was and was not going to do as far as taking care of the child after it was born? Did you notice how he said yes to sex but no to responsibility? Do you think that you will be able to tell a man NO I will not have sex with you until you prove to me that you love me by marrying me and stick to it?
2. just say no I mean when guys don’t want to do something they say that they don’t want to do something firmly and that is just that and you can’t persuade them otherwise and they expect you to just go along with their decision. That is the way I need for you to be about sex okay because they don’t have the right to sex from you and they are not your husband living with you, paying bills and sharing their life with you. However, that is for much later right now you are just a young girl of insert the girl’s age here and we want you to focus on school.
3. teen And guys will want to come on to you but if you just wait until you are of age say 18 or 19 not 12 or 13 because then the guys will respect you a whole lot more. I know your girlfriends say that they don’t want to be virgins when they get married but what they are really saying is that they don’t want to be HIV free when they get married because there are so many teenagers walking around with AIDS today it is not even funny that is why when you were six years old we told you not to be “blood sisters” with anybody. The best way to do it is to wait until you are married to have sex as that is the better way.
4. teenager Watch out for guys who are from out of town! They could be visiting their relatives from out of town or they could be there because they have been a problem to their immediate family and are being sent away to give their parents a breather. Those guys have one mission and one mission only and that is to have sex with someone in your city just so they can go back home and say that they got some out of town ass.
5. teenaged And guys don’t just talk to guys their own age about their sexual conquests or the girls that they have “scored” upon oh no. So if a man that is just waaaaay to much of an old head asks you if he can “work your legs” or “tap that ass” or “hit that” “f__k you” do like one girl did recently in the news punch him in the elbow hard and run like hell.
6. good movie Also here is our Blockbuster or Netflix card and go out and rent the movie Miss Congeniality as there is a good part towards the end where she shows women how to defend themselves. You know when she’s up on stage in her red yodeling outfit or water glasses outfit and the people behind the scenes up in the video control room say that she is kicking his ass. Awww, good times, good times.
7. be honest You should care about what you let me see concerning you because I am your mother. However do not hide the truth if a serious problem comes up.

Tips & Warnings

• The HIV talk is actually a separate talk from sex because then it can be overwhelming for the child. So the following week talk about HIV in a separate talk in more detail.
• Look for signs of dismay in your daughter as you use the vulgar language in Step 5 as most teens think their parents don't know those words and that their generation invented them. I think I read somewhere that every generation thinks that they invented sex but you tell her otherwise and if she looks shocked or downcast then you have done your job as a parent.
