There are several tricks in skateboarding that are learned early on. One of these tricks is the ollie and the other trick is the shuvit. In order to pop shuvit, you will need to know how to ollie and you will have to already have acquired decent balancing skills on a skateboard when in motion. These steps will show you how to pop shuvit on a skateboard.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Skateboard
  • Protective gear
  • Concrete surface
  1. Step 1

Practice the ollie. To ollie, place one foot on the rear beveled tail of the skateboard and the other on the middle of the board; both feet should be facing the same direction as if you were standing on the board with a foot on the tail and one in the middle. Pop the tail with one foot while the other slides up the grip tape just past the middle of the board. When done properly the board will pop up into the air about a foot.

  2. Step 2

Practice a regular shuvit. To shuvit, simply twist your foot on the tail of the board either forwards or backwards depending on which way you want to the board to swing. Instead of the ollie, where you slide your middle foot up the grip tape, with a shuvit you simply raise your other foot and let the board do a 180 underneath it before landing the shuvit.

  3. Step 3

Incorporate the ollie into the shuvit trick. To pop shuvit, you must be quick on your feet. Attempt an ollie, while your other foot is sliding up the grip tape, flick the tail again with your guiding foot, this will cause the board to do a 180 while popping up into the air. Landing it may take some serious practice but once you get the hang of it, you will have it.

  4. Step 4

Practice while in motion. Finally, gain some speed and attempt a pop shuvit while in motion. Once you get really good at it you will be able to do this trick over objects such as stairs or curbs, or ramps.
