There are many different ways that romantic couples enjoy having sex together. One of them is by role playing in a bondage scenario. Typically this involves acquiring some plastic leather bondage gear from the local sex shop as well as some sex toys, and choosing dominating roles between one another. Most commonly the female takes on the dominant role and the male becomes subservient to their sexual desires and fantasies. This type of role play can get out of hand on occasion. However, there are ways to engage in mutually consensual bondage where both parties are equally sexually satisfied. These steps will help to get you started on enjoying bondage responsibly.

How to Engage in Mutually Consensual Bondage

  1. Step 1

Get the gear. In order to enjoy this form of intimacy you will first need to get some gear. Your phonebook should provide several adult stores that have ample supply of bondage gear. You may want to call the store ahead of time to make sure that they have the right gear. Keep in mind that sex toys are expensive and in order to get all of the gear, such as outfits and toys, you will need to spend a considerable amount of money.

  2. Step 2

Decorate the bedroom. Once you have your gear it is time to set up your bedroom before engaging in bondage. Many couples like to decorate their bedrooms like a dungeon, dark drapes and cloths to set the mood, candles, shackles on the bedposts and anything that they can think of. Decorate your bedroom to your liking and get ready to play.

  3. Step 3

Choose the roles. In bondage there are two roles, dominant and submissive. Choose the roles that you are going to play and adhere to them. The dominant player can request or command anything of the submissive party and he or she must comply. Quite often even if the submissive party complies they are still punished by whipping or other means.

  4. Step 4

Engage in bondage activities. Now that you are ready to play the rest is up to you. Make sure that you are both enjoying the activity. If only one party is then this may not be the right sexual activity for your relationship. Try switching the roles around and have fun.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember that in order to be mutually consenting, all parties must agree and be into the activities that you plan. Plan your bondage activities as a couple and make sure that you both are willing to do them.
  • Always agree on a safe word when conducting bondage. This way if it gets too uncomfortable for either party they simply utter the safe word and the play ends.
