Instructions
  1. Step 1

Research your date a little. Find out what he or she enjoys doing, what their hidden talent is and what they're allergic to. If you have friends in common, ask them for ideas on how to impress your potential future boyfriend or girlfriend.

  2. Step 2

Get creative. If your date loves seafood, invite her over for a lobster dinner. Cook up some lobster, corn on the cob and new potatoes. Make her wear a bib and serve her a fabulous seafood dinner on your back porch.

  3. Step 3

Be spontaneous. Tell your date to dress down and comfortably, then take her hiking when she arrives at your house. One of the cheapest and most fun dates is heading outdoors. Go to the beach, the lake or the mountains.

  4. Step 4

Skip the roses and bottle of champagne. Opt for photo booth candids if you're heading to a fair, arcade or movie theater. They're fun, flirty and very inexpensive. Not only will you get to squish together inside of the booth, you can laugh at the pictures you take for weeks to come.

  5. Step 5

Invite them to a party or wedding. When your first date is to an event you've been invited to, you'll typically be given food and drink wherever you're headed.

  6. Step 6

Find a local farmer's market, bookstore or museum. Laid back, cultural dates are easily among the best and most affordable. By exploring new things together, you also learn a lot about your date.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always respect your date's wishes. If he or she hates loud music, the last place you should bring them is to a rock concert.
  • Don't feel as if you have to bring your date flowers or reserve a table at a Zagat-rated restaurant. Chances are, your date wants to kick back, relax and share a few laughs with you instead of being on their best behavior.
