When you need a dramatic eye look, applying darker shadows is one easy way to achieve it. Use the right tools and the right colors, along with skillful application, to make your eyes "pop" and give a sultry look to day or nighttime makeup. Just follow these steps.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Eye shadow in various shades
  • Small angled makeup brush
  • Makeup brush for blending
  • Mirror
  1. Step 1

Choose your eye shadow colors. They should be in the same color family or complement each other well.

  2. Step 2

Apply a lighter color eye shadow to your eyelid with an applicator or makeup brush. You can carry this color all the way up to your eyebrow if it's light enough.

  3. Step 3

Use your small angled makeup brush to deposit a darker color eye shadow in the eyelid crease.

  4. Step 4

Create a thin line from the inner lid crease all the way to the outer part of your lid crease.

  5. Step 5

Concentrate the color on the outer half of your lid crease, blending it downward.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use the makeup brushes to blend your eye shadows together for the most flattering look.
  • Don't wear heavy eye makeup to work during the day if you work in a conservative environment.
