Aimersoft DVD to PSP Converter is an application that converts DVD to PSP MP4 (MPEG -4) or H.264 video format. You can also choose to extract audio from DVD to PSP. The software is simple to use and works seamlessly with the company's PSP Video Manager software.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Windows NT4/2000/XP/2003 or Windows Vista
  • Intel Pentium 350MHz or higher
  • Any AMD Athlon
  • At least 64MB of free RAM
  1. Step 1

Download or buy Aimersoft DVD to PSP Converter (see Resources below). The trial version is free but has restrictions. You can try it out and then purchase an activation code if you like the application.

  2. Step 2

Install Aimersoft DVD to PSP Converter using the installer file and by following the directions on screen.

  3. Step 3

Launch Aimersoft DVD to PSP Converter and, after putting the DVD in the drive, click on the "Load DVD" button.

  4. Step 4

Choose the DVD drive from the pop-up box and hit "OK."

  5. Step 5

Select the chapters from the movie you're converting. Most movies on DVD are divided into a number of chapters and there are often bonus features on the disc that also show up as chapters. Select only the chapters you wish to encode to PSP video.

  6. Step 6

Crop the video. Depending on the DVD, the video may not be the same aspect ratio as the screen on your PSP. Click the "Crop" button to choose a cropping mode to make the video take up the whole PSP screen when it plays. Choose your cropping options in the "Crop" dialog and press "OK."

  7. Step 7

Select the encoder's video format. From the "Format" dropdown near the bottom of the dialog, select one of the available formats for the encoder. If you don't know what format to use, stick with the default setting. Other formats include better quality (but larger file size) and decreased quality (but smaller file size). There are also several Playstation 3 video formats and generic MPEG-4 video formats.

  8. Step 8

Enable subtitles. If the movie has any subtitles at all, select the subtitle track to use. Be sure to select this even if the movie is in your native language, as there may be portions in another language that will need subtitles.

  9. Step 9

Select the audio track. Some DVDs will have multiple audio tracks, primarily for different languages on the same disc surround-sound encodings. Select the audio track that best suits your needs.

  10. Step 10

Select the portion of the video to encode. If you wish to encode a portion of the video instead of the entire video, click on the "Trim" button. Choose the start and end times of the portions you wish to encode and press the "OK" button. Note that this will encode these clips as soon as you click the "OK" button, so you can skip the next step.

  11. Step 11

Click the "Start" button to start the encoding. The time the encoding process takes is dependent on your processor speed. A faster processor will encode videos more quickly than a slow one.

  12. Step 12

Download an install the free Aimersoft PSP Video Manager (see Resources below). This is a free program that helps you to copy video files to and from the PSP. If you know which folder on the PSP your video files need to go in, you can skip this step and copy the files manually. Double-click on the installer and follow the directions on screen to install the program.

  13. Step 13

Start the PSP Video Manager program and select, from the hard drive, the files you wish to copy to the PSP. There will be a list on the left-hand side from which to choose.

  14. Step 14

Click on the right arrow button to copy them to the PSP.

Tips & Warnings
  • Cropping will always remove part of the frame--it's likely that the top and bottom of the video will be cut off.

on 6/30/2008 Nice tool for PCs! But don't forget Apple users. They need a right application too :)

Any Video Converter for Mac, probably the best converter for Apple MAC platform (download here: http://www.download.com/Any-Video-Converter-for-Mac/3000-2200_4-10854757.html). It can convert almost every video/audio format, like AVI, MPEG, MP4, ASF, MOV, WMV, MP3, AAC, M4A, etc, to suitable formats for iPod, PSP, DV, DVD, Tivo, mobile phones, ... It's very easy to operate, and it supports batch processing, so it's very efficient and can save users a lot of time.

If you have an Apple machine, and look for a good converting tool, please don't hesitate to download one and enjoy!
