It is important to wrap the wrists in power lifting to remind help keep the weight in the arm and not bearing on the wrist. Common opinion among weight lifters is that the type of strap you use is not as important as how you wrap it. There are a couple of basic methods to help you with simple wrist protection or to provide support if you have pain in your forearm.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Power Lifting Straps
  1. Step 1

Insert the hand in a wrap. Start by putting your thumb through the loop to aid in holding the strap tight while you wrap.

  2. Step 2

Wrap the wrist. Using the other hand wrap the strap around the low part of the wrist and continue wrapping, but not too tight yet. Once the strap is wrapped all around, unloop it once or twice and pull it very tight while you wrap it back up this time, using up every bit of slack.

  3. Step 3

Finish the wrap. Pull your thumb out of the loop and you are ready to lift.

  4. Step 4

Vary the wrap. A variation of this wrap can be made to provide comfort to an aching forearm. Start wrapping low at the wrist as usual but then move up the forearm as you loop, then move back down so that you finish back at the wrist.

Tips & Warnings
  • If the hand feels tingly, the wrap may be too tight. Re-do it to avoid hurting yourself.
