The Mediterranean diet is based on a Grecian diet, specifically the food that natives of Crete, Greece and Southern Italy consume. It is a diet that places an emphasis on fresh fruit, plant foods, olive oil and dairy products. Fish, poultry, eggs, red meat and wine are also allowed, but only in moderation.     How to Pick Fruits for a Mediterranean Diet

  1. Step 1

    Head to the grocery store and pick up tons of grapes, apples, oranges, strawberries and mangoes. These are the main traditional fruits of the mediterranean diet.

  2. Step 2

    Pick up olives and avocados. Both are considered as fruit in the mediterranean diet.

  3. Step 3

    Nuts are also included in the fruit portion of the mediterranean diet. Stock up on almonds, pine nuts, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds and walnuts for healthy snacks.

  4. Step 4

    Keep in mind that fruits should be consumed daily on the Mediterranean diet. So stock up on a lot of fruit when you head to the grocery store.
