How to Clean Inside a Computer Monitor

If you live in a very dusty area you may need to clean the inside of your computer monitor from time to time. Cleaning the inside of your computer monitor can be very easy to do. It only takes a few tools and a few minutes to accomplish.

Things You'll Need:

  • A vacuum (that blows in and out) and a hose
  • A clean cotton cloth
  1. Step 1

    Unplug the monitor and locate the air vents on the monitor. They will look like little holes or slots in the plastic.

  2. Step 2

    Wipe all of the dust off of the air vents with the clean cloth.

  3. Step 3

    Set your vacuum cleaner to "out" and blow air through the air vents with the vacuum hose for a few seconds.

  4. Step 4

    Set the vacuum cleaner to "in" and suck out the dust that you stirred up by blowing air into the monitor.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not use a high-powered vacuum or shop vac. They may cause too much pressure on the parts in the monitor.
  • Do not open the monitor! You may get an electric shock even if the monitor is unplugged.
