Feng Shui is the practice of arranging objects to achieve harmony in your environment. If you have ever considered implementing feng shui in your home, these steps will help you get started.

From Quick Guide: Feng Shui Fountains Guide
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Clutter-free space
  • Soothing colors
  • Soothing sounds
  • Fountain or aquarium
  1. Step 1

Begin by clearing out all the clutter in the room you are working on. If you have knickknacks or other objects that you do not absolutely love or need, get rid of them. When you walk into your room, you should feel positive "energy", and if you are surrounded by items you love, you will feel more at peace.

  2. Step 2

Add colors to the room that represent the elements and give you a positive feeling. When looking at colors, be aware of the feelings they invoke in you.

  3. Step 3

Sound is a basic element of feng shui. Some ways to incorporate soothing sound in your room include background music, water features (such as a table top fountain) or a wind chime outside a window. Wind sensitive objects are also believed to attract the "chi" (meaning "life" or "energy").

  4. Step 4

Plants and flowers--especially potted flowers--will help you feel connected to nature. Hang a potted ivy from the ceiling, place a small tree behind your sofa, or set fresh flowers on the table.

  5. Step 5

Along with providing soothing sounds, water is believed to stimulate chi in a room. Besides a fountain, you might consider an aquarium.

Tips & Warnings
  • Art and lighting are two more elements used in feng shui. Light bulbs that simulate natural sunlight are wonderful choices. For art, choose something that invokes positive feelings within you.
