It houses your heart and your lungs, so it’s important to give your chest the attention it needs and deserves. Do chest expansion with yoga blocks to stretch the chest. It’s a stretch that not only feels good while you’re doing it, but also helps promote better breathing all day long.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Three yoga blocks

Step1
Kneel on your knees, your shins and tops of your feet flush with the floor. Your knees should be together, but your feet wide enough apart for a yoga block to fit between them. Place one of the yoga blocks behind you and sit on it. Keep your knees together, and your shins and feet still flush with the floor. Keep your spine straight.
Step2
Place the other two yoga blocks behind your feet.
Step3
Place your hands on the yoga blocks behind you, pressing into them with the weight of your upper body. Lift your chest up to the ceiling. As you stretch the chest, breathe deeply in and out several times.

Tips & Warnings

  • • Always breathe through your nose. It not only warms the air to body temperature, but also helps promote deeper, longer breathing.
  • • When lifting your chest up toward the ceiling, remember to stay seated on the yoga block.
  • • When doing the chest expansion with yoga blocks, only drop your head back if you know that you do not have any back or neck problems. Otherwise, keep it aligned with the spine.
