How to Find Antiques at Yard Sales

If you are an avid antique collector, or are simply trying to find a few nice antiques to add to your home decor, don't overlook a great place to find antiques at great prices: yard sales.

Instructions

1. Get there early. By being one of the first people at a yard or garage sale, you can spot any antiques before other shoppers snatch them up.

2. Not an early bird? Don't worry. By the end of the day, people having yard sales are ready to be finished. If you spot an antique at a garage sale late in the day, see what kind of a bargain you can get from weary sellers.

3. Know what you are looking for. If you are unfamiliar with an item and think it might be an antique, purchase it only if you absolutely love it and the price is worth it to you.

4. It is always okay to request a discount at a yard or garage sale. It is never okay to be pushy or rude. Enough said.

5. Bring antique books or your laptop with you. Then, if you see an item you think might be a great find, you can run to your car and look it up before you put your money down.
