A family picnic is an excellent way to enjoy the outdoors and spend some quality time with the people you love. There are numerous activities you could do as a family when having an outdoor picnic. Everything from the food to where you decide to have the picnic determines how successful the event is. Here is how to plan a family picnic.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide how many people you want to have at your family picnic. A family picnic can consist of just immediate family members. You could also turn it into a large family outing. Consider this before planning anything else.

  2. Step 2

Find the perfect place to hold your family picnic. How many people you decide to invite to your family picnic will be a determining factor when finding where to have the picnic. You could have your family picnic anywhere from a local park to your backyard.

  3. Step 3

Make sure that you have plenty of coolers. People often underestimate how little a cooler can hold once ice or ice packs have been placed into the cooler. Chances are that one cooler will not be enough for your family picnic.

  4. Step 4

Remember that healthy snacks are the easiest snacks. Picnics are often seen as an opportunity to eat a ton of food, most of which isn't necessarily good for you. Apples, bananas and grapes are easy to pack and dispose of, not to mention nutritious and filling.

  5. Step 5

Plan plenty of outdoor activities for your family picnic. A picnic isn't just about food, after all. Something as simple as a volleyball net can make for a very entertaining family picnic. If you're not in the mood for sports, have your outdoor picnic near a hiking trail. A family picnic should be about enjoying the outdoors with those you love.

  6. Step 6

Check the weather before you head out for your family picnic. A lot of planning does go into a family picnic but it's still important to know how the weather conditions before you leave your house. It may be annoying but it would be better to reschedule your family picnic than to have it ruined by rain.
