Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Walking shoes
- Bicycle
- Car-pool partner
- Maybe a new car
Step1
Plan to make you errands on a weekly basis rather than daily. Create this new habit.
Step2
Consider carpooling. You might make new friends or even get to know your grumpy old boss. If you are into Heavy Metal and they're into Country Christian Rock, you might have to develop an new Comfort level. Learn to compromise.
Step3
Take out that ol' dusty 10 speed and ride your bike to work. If you live too far then you could consider riding half way by car and the other half by bicycle. You'll even learn to get into shape and lose a few pounds. Winter may not be the best time to ride a bike so you might want to try Cross Country Ski's or sled dogs. Yeah, Right!
Step4
You may decide it's time to trade in that old gas guzzler for a new car. But be warned that you may start driving more and even use more Gas. Personally a diesel is still considered better than a hybrid. Now if only they had a diesel hybrid.

on 5/16/2008 Love that part about finding a new comfort level and learning to compromise! I hadn't thought about riding my bike halfway to work - I have been thinking of how to do it; turns out on only one day a week do I not need the vehicle for other things after work.

on 5/12/2008 Turn your car off when you are waiting for someone, at idle you are getting zero miles to the gallon.
