Prevent a Spider Bite
Prevent a Spider Bite

Spider bites are never a pleasant experience, and in some cases can have significant medical consequences. Prevention of exposure will reduce the liklihood of suffering a bite.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The easiest way to avoid a bite is to avoid spider contact. This can be done in a variety of ways around the house, as well as in daily life.

  2. Step 2

When working in areas such as crawl spaces, attics, extra garages, or anywhere with a likely infestation, dress appropriately. Wear long sleeves, pants, socks, and gloves as desired. Take care when working with fabrics, boxes, and anything else stored for a long period of time.

  3. Step 3

Often a spider will bite when pinned inside clothing. Using rubber bands on the ends of pant & shirt sleeves when working in infested areas can help prevent such a situation from developing.

  4. Step 4

Spider traps can be purchased at any hardware store. The traps with attractant are said to be effective. Realize that by eliminating all spiders entirely from the home will open the way for one species to colonize the home without competition, which is the opposite of what's wanted.
