If your looking to create some extra money then you may want to consider writing how-to articles for eHow. I was skeptical when I first started thinking to myself "how much could I possibly make?" After a couple of weeks of writing I started earning some good money.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Computer
  • Internet Connection
  • eHow Account
  • PayPal Account

Step1
I started out writing articles for eHow in March 2008. I try to write at least five articles every week on topics I'm familiar with and enjoy. Don't be afraid to take the leap, what do you have to loose besides an hour of your time a week.
Step2
The first thing you need to do is create an eHow account. This is very simple to do and only takes a couple of minutes. You will also need to create a PayPal account which is extremely easy to do. I've provided links to both the eHow registration page and the PayPal homepage below (under resources).
Step3
Once you've create an account with eHow you'll need to sign up for the "Writers Compensation Program". Fill in all the required information including name, address, and SSN for tax reasons. The great thing about eHow is they will send you a W2 to file with your taxes. Also link your PayPal account to your eHow account (this is how you will get paid). eHow sends out payments at the end of each month. I usually receive the money my articles generate in my PayPal account on the 5th of each month.
Step4
Before you start writing your articles, complete your profile. I promise this is beneficial, when people read your articles they will most likely take a quick glance at your profile. The more complete your profile, the higher the probability they will add you as a friend and rate/comment on your articles.
Step5
Now it's time to start writing a couple of articles. Another great thing about eHow is that you can write about almost anything. Try to write about something your very familiar with. For example, if you're a chef you may want to share some of your magnificent recipes or if you're a stock broker, write an article on how to invest in mutual funds. It's all about writing about what you know and love and sharing your experience with the eHow community.
Step6
Write a couple of articles every week, they all don't have to be perfect! All that matters is that their helpful in some way or another. As you build your article database you will become known throughout the community and people will add you as a friend and check your profile regularly for new updates.
Step7
Network with other members which means rate their articles, post a comment, etc. Usually they will return the favor and before you know your articles will have high ratings.
Step8
Continue to add articles on a weekly basis, don't stop! The more articles you have the higher potential income. You won't make that much when you first start out, but as you grow your database the income will increase. My first month I only made 34 cents. My second month I made about $14. When I was writing this article I was currently making on average $3-$5 a day and I had less than 100 articles. At first $4 doesn't seem like that much, but multiply it by 30 days in a month and that's $120. Another great thing about eHow is you can write as many articles as you want, mean their's no limit to how much you can make. Imagine if you had 500 articles each making 10 cents a day!!!
Step9
Set goals for how many articles you want to write each month. I try to write at least 20 each month on a variety of subjects.
Step10
Promote your articles in your blogs, digg.com, forums, email them to friends, stumble upon, and submit them to reddit, delicious, myspace and facebook. The more people that read your articles the better.
Step11
eHow's not the only site that will pay you to submit articles. A couple other that I use are Associated Content and Xomba. Both will pay you based on the number of people who click on ads implemented into the articles you submit. I've provided links to both these sites below (under resources).

Tips & Warnings

  • Try to write at least 5 articles a week
  • Promote your blogs as much as possible
  • Do Not Plagiarize
