The weather is getting warm and thoughts run to cool drinks on hot summer days. Here is an easy way to make sun tea.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 2 quart glass container
  • tea (2-4 bags black tea)
  • water
  • lemon (optional)
  • mint (optional)
  • Juice concentrate (optional)
Step1
Fill glass container with water and place tea bags (4) inside
Step2
Close container and place in direct sunlight for three to six hours
Step3
Remove tea bags and place in the refrigerator.
Step4
Pour tea over ice and add lemon, sugar, juice or mint as you like. Enjoy!

Tips & Warnings

  • Add an herbal tea bag, like currant or berry zinger to the tea for a slightly different flavor
  • Once tea is brewed add juice concentrate like cranberry or peach for a slightly sweet and fruity beverage.
  • Use the tea within a few days (I do not use it past two days)
  • If you use a pitcher/container with a spout, make sure you clean it with hot soapy water completely before you make a new batch

on 6/4/2008 I love sun tea. Living in Texas all my life I have made sun tea quite a bit it. It has a much better taste than tea that has been oiled or steaped. I sit my jug on a dark surface in the sun and it is ready in about an hour.
