So you have bought one of the most popular Summer fruits and now do not know how to cut it. This is quite common actually, as I get asked this question by my friends many times. It is actually quite simple, if you follow certain steps. Enjoy!

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
When you are choosing a pineapple, go for one that has firm, gold to brown skin (make sure it isn't too green) with green, loose leaves. A good pineapple will have a strong, fresh smell.
Step2
Choose a serrated bread knife to cut it. Since that kind of knife has a bit more flexibility, it will be better for cutting the pineapple.
Step3
I usually leave the pineapple in warm water for about 10 minutes, to make the skin softer. Many people choose to skip this step, but I do find it easier to cut after putting it in warm water-- make sure it's warm and not hot.
Step4
Cut off the leaves together with a tiny bit (usually less than an inch) of the top and the bottom of the fruit.
Step5
Stand the pineapple on its base. You will notice that the pineapple has some brown spots on it.
Step6
Start cutting the fruit just behind one of the spots. Those spots run on the side of the pineapple in a column. As you slice down to the bottom of the pineapple, you will notice that you have to slightly turn the knife to follow the shape of the fruit.
Step7
The width of this first cut should be greater than of the next slices.
Step8
Cut off the rest of the pineapple skin by going down from top to bottom along each row of spots. Don't cut off too much of the peel at once or you will take a lot of good fruit with it.
Step9
Once the fruit is completely peeled, check to see if it still has any skin or spots.
