This article details the steps you must take in order to obtain your real estate sales associate's license in Florida.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Desire to become a real estate agent
  • 63 hours for pre licensing course
  • Fingerprints
  • application fee
  • ability to study and pass state exam
  • Brokerage to work under

Step1
Ready to obtain your Florida real estate license? Wondering what you need to do to get your real estate license?

Well, first of all you should go online to Myfloridalicense.com, submit an application and pay the application fee. You should do this ASAP to begin the process. The process can take some time so get this first part completed right away. It is vey easy to do. Just fill in your information in the online forms and submit and pay with a credit or debit card right online.
Step2
Next, you'll need to make arrangements to have your fingerprints done. Now, it is done electronically so no more messy ink :) Simply find a location near you by checking here. Then you schedule an appointment and the fingerprints are sent to the state.
Step3
Then you will need to find a pre-licensing course to attend. Florida requires you attend a 63 hour course. There is an end of class exam that you must also pass. You can learn more about this class and a list of providers by clicking here (opens a pdf).
Step4
Next, don't forget to study for the state exam. You'll receive a letter in the mail when your application is complete and you have the clear to test. Locally, here in the Ft. Myers area, we have testing available nearly every day for your convenience.
Step5
After you take the state exam and pass you need a broker to work under. As you may know, we are currently hiring licensed real estate agents at Florida Future Realty, Inc.

If you are not local, I suggest you try going online to google and searching for "your city real estate" to find companies that have good search engine rankings online. They'll be the best companies to work for as far as having buyer leads. Most of our buyers start their real estate search online so the company you work for should be online and easily found.

Pick 3-5 companies to research. Check them out online, call some of their agents and schedule an interview with the ones that interest you most. Remember, you want to work somewhere that you'll be happy, have fun and earn your desired income. Determine your goals and be honest with the broker or sales manager about your goals to make sure you and the company are a 'fit'. I think you'll know the company when you find it.
