Dye Your Hair Green
Dye Your Hair Green

When you want to get in touch with your wild side, dying your hair a crazy color is one way to do it. In order to dye your hair green, you will need the following items that you can pick up from any beauty supply store: powdered bleach, hydrogen peroxide developer 40 volume (should be right next to hair bleach), green hair dye, gloves, mixing bowl, brush, shower cap, blow dryer and old towels. Note: This can be extremely damaging to hair that has been dyed too often, and if your hair is already blonde, skip the bleaching steps.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    # Section hair into 4 sections, 2 sections in front, 2 in back.
    # Mix an even amount of powdered bleach with liquid hydrogen peroxide developer in a mixing bowl.
    # Apply bleach to 1/4-inch sections of hair. Start in front, and apply to bottom 2/3 of hair. After applying all over to the bottom part of the hair, go back and apply at the roots. Cover with shower cap.

  2. Step 2

    # Bleach hair to a medium-light blonde. Make sure you allow hair to lighten past the orange phase. This will take anywhere from 20-60 minutes, depending on your hair type, and whether it has been colored before.
    # Check hair color. You may wipe off a small section and towel dry to check color. Once your hair reaches a desirable phase (a pale yellow -- do not allow it to get to a white shade!!), rinse hair and towel dry.
    # Apply hair dye. Most hair colors go on towel-dried hair, so section hair back and apply to 1/4-inch sections, starting in the front.

  3. Step 3

    # Blow dry. Cover with shower cap and apply blow dryer. Heat helps activate color.
    # Wash out after 20-30 minutes. Use a deep conditioning conditioner or hair masque, as hair will most likely be fairly damaged because of bleach.

Tips & Warnings
  • Have fun with your new look. Continue to deep condition hair once or twice a week, and take it easy on the hair dryer.
