Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Things You’ll Need:
- Scissors
- Needles
- Thread
- Assorted buttons
- Oxford shirt
Step1
Thread a needle and put it to the side. That will be easier for you when you put the buttons on. Unbutton the oxford shirt and use the scissors to cut the sewing of the original button off.
Step2
When you have removed all the buttons from the oxford shirt, place them n a pile aside. Pick through your pile of assorted buttons for the colors you like best. Make sure they are about the same size as the original oxford shirt buttons or else you may not be able to button your shirt!
Step3
These buttons will be on your oxford shirt. Order them according to a pattern you would like or in any order you wish.
Step4
There should be a mark of loose thread or a tiny hole where you have removed the buttons from the oxford shirt. That is the spot where you will sew your replacement button that you chose. To sew the button, take the threaded needle and poke through the oxford from the button. Then poke from the inside of the oxford out of one of the button holes. Do this a couple of times with the thead and needle.
Step5
Pull the button slightly upward to see if it is sturdy. If it is easy to pull upwards that means you need to loop it with the thread and needle a few more times. However, if it is sturdy then tie a double knot at the end of the thread where you finished. Cut the thead after you double knotted it.
Step6
Repeat these last two steps until you have replaced all the buttons on the oxford. After you are finished, you have a nice personalized oxford shirt!
