Are you looking for a fun preschool craft project to do with your toddler or preschooler? If you are, you may want to try making a construction paper bee. Doing so is easy, affordable, and a great way to get your child exciting about the summer.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Yellow and Black Construction Paper
  • Chenille Craft Pipe Cleaners
  • Scissors
  • Glue Stick
  • Markers
  • Tape
  1. Step 1
    Cut Out the Bee’s Head and Body
    Cut Out the Bee’s Head and Body

    With the yellow construction paper, cut out the bee’s head and body for your child. The body should be a large oval and the head can be a smaller circle.

  2. Step 2
    Cut the Black Strips
    Cut the Black Strips

    With the black construction paper, cut out small strips of paper. These paper strips will be the bee’s black stripes.

  3. Step 3

    Have your child glue around four to five black strips of paper onto their bee’s body.

    Cut the excess strips of black paper from the side of the bee’s body.

    Have your child draw a face on their bee’s head.

    Have your child glue their bee’s head to the body.

  7. Step 7

    Cut four pieces of craft pipe cleaner. You will likely need about two and half full sized craft pipe cleaners.

    Have your child tape two pipe cleaners to the bee’s head and two the bottom of the body (for the antenna and legs). Glue can also be used, but tape is the quickest approach to take.

  9. Step 9

    Cut two wing shapes out of construction paper. Let your child choose their favorite color.

    Have your child glue the wings to the back of their bee.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you will be having your child do the cutting, be sure to use safety scissors that are designed for preschoolers.
