Why is it, the thought of having to serve on jury duty is about as much fun as going to the dentist. You know it's necessary, but you don't want to do either one.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Jury Summons
  • Photo I.D.
  • iPod
  • Book
  • Magazine(s)
  • Sudoku/Crossword Puzzle
  • Newspaper

Step1
Get plenty of sleep the night before.
Step2
Not an early riser ... be sure to set your alarm clock. Don't want to oversleep.
Step3
Eat breakfast. It's early in the morning. Don't want to be sitting in a room full of people, and your stomach suddenly lets everyone know you're hungry.
Step4
Bring a book, magazine(s), newspaper, sudoku and/or crossword puzzle to pass the time.
Step5
Your iPod is a must. Listen to your favorite music from your playlist to help pass the time.
Step6
Don't eat a big lunch. If so, you'll want to lie down for an afternoon nap.
Step7
Finally. The long has ended. You survived jury duty. You can now chill and put this day behind you. That is, till next time you're called upon to serve.

Tips & Warnings

  • Check with the Jury Commission in your city/state about a voice response system. In Philadelphia, PA this interactive system was put into place by the Jury Commission. Individuals call a special phone number listed on the jury summons they received. They call the voice response system the day before they are to report for jury duty. Will let them know if they are still needed to report for jury duty.
  • To not report for jury duty would be a mistake. Subject to either paying a fine and/or jailed on contempt charges.
