Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Curling iron
  • Comb
  • Hair clip
  • Smoothing cream
  • Mousse or gel

    Prep Your Hair

  1. Step 1

Wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner made for curly hair. This will prepare your hair.

  2. Step 2

Scrunch your hair gently with a towel to get excess water out.

  3. Step 3

Gently comb your hair so there are no knots. Do not use a brush. You can also comb your hair with your fingers.

  4. People With Naturally Curly Hair

  5. Step 1

Use the palms of your hands to scrunch your hair so that it starts forming its natural curls. Make sure to scrunch the sides and the back.

  6. Step 2

Apply mousse, gel or curling cream to your curls. If you prefer crunchy curls, use mousse or gel. If you prefer softer curls, use the cream.

  7. Step 3

With natural curls, it is best to let the hair dry naturally. However, you can purchase a diffuser to go onto your hair dryer, which gently blows air onto the hair.

  8. Step 4

If you notice some curls are being stubborn, use a little more cream and twirl the hair around your finger to force it into a curl.

  9. Step 5

When your hair is dry, put smoothing cream gently over the curls and spray with hair spray.

  10. People With Naturally Straight Hair

  11. Step 1

Use hair clips to section off your hair.

  12. Step 2

Spray curl-holding spray on each piece of hair before using a curling iron on the piece.

  13. Step 3

After you have curled all of the hair, apply a smoothing cream gently over the curls, then spray with hair spray.

Tips & Warnings
  • Sometimes it takes time to train your hair as well as practice with the curling iron and styling products to get the results you want.
  • Too much of the styling products can weigh your hair down, so use them sparingly.
