How to Host a Mexican Themed Bridal Shower

Give your bridal shower a boost with a Mexican theme

When you host a bridal shower there are so many things to consider: decorations, refreshments, presents, games, and of course a theme. Give your next bridal shower a Latin flair by hosting a Mexican-themed shower.

Instructions

1. Set a date for the bridal shower. Make sure the date works for bride-to-be, mothers of bride and groom and all members of the wedding party.

2. Secure a location for the shower. For a laid-back theme like Mexican, consider a backyard shower.

3. Create a guest list for the shower. Consult with the bride (and her mother) to be sure everyone the bride wants there, gets an invitation.

4. Design and send Mexican-themed bridal shower invitations. Make sure it's clear that this is a bridal shower, but use vibrant colors that are dominant in Mexican culture. Send invitations to everyone on your guest list.

5. Plan a menu for the shower. Decide if this will be buffet or sit down eating, and decide if you want backyard casual or gourmet Mexican dishes. Since it's a Mexican theme, go with popular Mexican dishes like tacos, burritos, quesadillas, flan,and of course salsa and chips. Research other Mexican dishes or variations if you want to add more dishes. Be sure to have at least one traditionally Mexican alcoholic beverage, tequila is always a party favorite.

6. Decide how to decorate for the bridal shower. Look online at various party stores to find decorations suitable for a bridal shower, but also keeping with the Mexican theme. If you can find it, a bridal shower pinata would be a great addition to your party.

7. Create or buy bridal shower games. Most party stores sell pre-packaged bridal shower games, but you can also make up your own. Common bridal shower games include trivia about the bride and groom, and toilet paper wedding gowns.

8. Purchase all items at least one week before the bridal shower. Set up decorations the day before the shower and have food prepared a few hours before guests begin arriving.
