Transferring your photos from your digital camera to your computer is a fairly simple task once you get the hang of it. As long as you have the right equipment, you can transfer your digital photos to your computer in minutes and then email your digital photos to your friends and family. Here is how to transfer photos from your digital camera to your computer.
Computer with digital photo software installed
Install software for processing digital photos onto your computer. Most digital cameras are packaged with software to process digital photos. The software enables you to manipulate the photos, such as reducing the photo size or rotating the photos.
USB port on computer
Locate a USB port on your computer. The USB port is rectangular in shape and about half an inch long. Most computers have more than one USB port. Computers generally have USB ports located on the back where other cables are connected, but some computers have USB ports located on the front of the computer as well.
Connecting USB cable to USB port
Connect the large end of the USB cable into a USB port on your computer. The part that plugs into the USB port is about half an inch long and flat. The top has a symbol the looks like an arrow with a branch coming out of each side.
USB cable
Connect the small end of the USB cable to your digital camera. Look for a small port on your digital camera that fits the small end of the USB cable. Your camera might have a plastic flap that covers the port.
