How to Find a Haunted Hospital

Hospitals are a place for healing and help, but they are also the last stop for people who suffer traumas or extended illnesses. All of that energy has to go somewhere and many hospitals claim that they experience some paranormal activity. Whether it's a residual haunting, echo of a past event or a full on ghost invasion, finding a haunted hospital to investigate isn't hard to do. Want to go on a ghost hunt? Here are a few hospitals to get you started.

Instructions

1. 

   Start your haunted hospital tour in Athens, Ohio and the Athens Mental Health Center also known as The Ridges. Now part of the Ohio University Athens Campus, you'll find the old buildings on a hill across the Hocking River from the West Green. The Ridges was the site of many common psychiatric practices of the past including shock treatments and lobotomies. Now only the tuberculosis hospital stands and the appearance on "Scariest Places On Earth" makes it a popular place to ghost hunt. Get permission first and then be prepared to see apparitions, shadow people and orbs show up in your photographs.

2. Head to Columbus Ohio and the Children's Hospital to get your paranormal fix. Talk to the staff there to hear personal experiences of haunted rooms and the vision of the Pink Lady in the park next door!

   Go to Northampton State Hospital in Massachusetts for some real frights. Another mental health hospital, this place holds the echo of past misdeeds and ill treatment of patients common in the early days of mental health treatment. "Scariest Places on Earth" stopped here and found it to be a spooky location filled with mysterious sounds of footsteps and orbs. Now will need special permission to visit.

4. 

   Norwich State Hospital, in its dilapidated state, will surely give you the creeps. Yet another early 1900 mental hospital, and host to one episode of MTV's Celebrity Paranormal Project, this building is sure to provide plenty of orb photographs and shadowy figures. As always, get permission before entering the grounds.

   No haunted hospital tour would be complete without a visit to the most haunted hospital in the US, the Waverly Sanitarium in Louisville Kentucky. Book a tour or overnight stay to see shadow people, orbs, and apparitions. This is a great, and very affordable tour, so if you want an easy, and legal, way to visit a haunted hospital, this is your best bet.
