Practicing yoga on a daily basis enables the body to stretch and release tension in certain areas. In addition, the different positions strengthen the spine and help align it. Read on to learn about how to improve your posture with yoga.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Yoga mat
  • Yoga ball
  • Comfortable clothes
  1. Step 1

    Schedule a time every day to practice yoga for at least 20 minutes, or sign up for a yoga class.

  2. Step 2

    Purchase a book or DVD that describes and shows examples of different yoga poses. You can search magazines or yoga websites for pictures of poses (see Resources below).

  3. Step 3

    Stretch out your back on a yoga ball before and after each yoga session. Lie back on the ball and use your feet to roll back and forth.

  4. Step 4

    Incorporate the mountain pose, boat pose and table pose into each yoga session. These poses help stretch and align the spine (see Resources below).

Tips & Warnings
  • Scoliosis can also be improved with yoga.
  • Stretch muscles slowly and smoothly.
