How to wax a curb or rail to grind on a skateboard
Skateboarding can be a wonderfully entertaining form of exercise. A commonly used product among skaters is called Sex Wax—a wax-based lubricant that skaters apply to curbs or rails before skating them for a slick surface. Using lubricants like Sex Wax makes the surface very smooth and slick--ideal for grinding or sliding a skateboard on.

1
Buy the Sex Wax. You can find it or other forms of skating lubricant at most skating or surfing stores; surfers use Sex Wax to lube the underside of their boards. Typically, a stick of this wax will cost you around $6. See Resources below to buy it online.
-
2
Apply the wax to the curb or the rail. Simply open the top and expose the wax. It is like a deodorant applicator; simply twist the button disc at the bottom to make the wax protrude from the top. Apply the wax in swift left-to-right motions, making sure that ample amounts are applied to the surface of the area that you wish to grind.

-
3
Run your hand along it after applying the wax to ensure that the surface is slick enough for grinding. If the wax is applied evenly, your hand should glide easily across the surface.
-
4
Try out your new slick surface by attempting to grind the heck out of it.

Tips & Warnings
Make sure that you evenly apply the Sex Wax to the curb or the rail. Any nonlubricated spots could cause your board or trucks to catch and make you fall.
Always wear protective gear when skateboarding to minimize the possibility of sustaining an injury.

Sex wax is actually VERY sticky. It is used on the TOP of surfboards to keep your feet from slipping off while you're surfing. Applying sex wax to a rail will make it impossible to grind. Use skateboard wax or even candle wax, save the sex wax for surfing.
