    How to Find Acupuncture Points

  1. Step 1

Search the Internet or purchase a book that describes and shows the acupuncture points on the human body. Pictures with anatomical markers are helpful.

  2. Step 2

Try to locate some of the points on your body. Once you find them on yourself, it will be easier to find them on others.

  3. Step 3

Study the 12 meridians on the body: heart, lung, pericardium, small intestine, large intestine, kidney, liver, bladder, gall bladder stomach, spleen, and triple warmer. Take note of which points are yin or yang.

  4. Step 4

Use your fingers to feel for the points. You may notice the area is cooler, warmer or just feels different in a certain way than the surrounding skin. Press firmly but gently.

  5. Step 5

After you have practiced locating some points, try to learn what problems certain points address.

  6. Step 6

Attend acupuncture classes if you are interested in performing acupuncture professionally.

Tips & Warnings
  • Continuous practice will help you find the points quicker.
  • Do not perform an acupuncture session if you are not qualified.
