How to Steam Treat Acne

Acne can be a devastating condition for teens and adults. It can affect your self-esteem and the ways other perceive you. If possible, it is best to treat acne in a natural way to keep the skin healthy and prevent scarring.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Hot Water
  • <br>Towel
  • <br>Essential oils and herbs
  • <br>Acne extraction tool
  • <br>Mirror
  • <br>Astringent
  • <br>Oil free moisturizer
  1. Step 1

    Fill a bowl with hot water. It should be hot enough to produce a lot of steam. Add essential herbs such as mint, eucalyptus and/or lavender. Some of these herbs also have the pleasant side effects of cleaning your sinuses.

  2. Step 2

    Place your steaming bowl on the table and sit down in front of it. Place a towel over your head and tent it over the bowl in order to make sure as much steam as possible is channeled to your face and does not escape. Make sure your face is close enough to the bowl to get as much steam as possible, but not so close as to scald your skin.

  3. Step 3

    Close your eyes and enjoy the steam treatment for about 10 minutes.

    Using an acne extraction tool and starting with your worse spots, gently extract as many breakouts as possible.

    After your face has cooled from the acne treatment, use an gently oil free moisturizer, preferably with an anti-acne agent.
