A beautiful smile is important if you want to make a good first impression. However, if your teeth are discolored, you might be embarrassed and reluctant to show your teeth. Here are some steps to help you prevent discoloration of your teeth.

  1. Step 1

    Brush and floss your teeth regularly. You should brush your teeth at least twice each day and floss at least once.

  2. Step 2

    As much as possible, avoid drinks that might discolor your teeth. Beverages such as coffee, tea, soft drinks and wine can cause discoloration. If you do indulge, try drinking through a straw.

  3. Step 3

    After drinking beverages that can discolor your teeth, or eating foods such as berries, rinse your mouth well with warm water or even salt water.

  4. Step 4

    Avoid smoking or using other tobacco products, as these are notorious for causing discoloration of teeth.

  5. Step 5

    Visit your dentist regularly for cleanings and check-ups. Some conditions that cause discoloration can be stopped if caught early.
