Men don't typically wear a ton of jewelry, so special attention should be paid to a piece like a wedding ring, which not only holds significant sentimental value, but will also be displayed for all to see. Read on to learn how to choose the right wedding band for you.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • * A good, reliable jeweler/jewelry store
  • <br>* An array of styles to choose from
Step1
Determine whether you prefer silver, white gold, gold or platinum. Base your decision off of your personal preference, what matches your fiance's ring (if that's important to you) and your budget.
Step2
Do some research online and in jewelry stores to determine what kinds of styles you like.
Step3
Determine whether you want a ring with any patterns, designs or diamonds on it.
Step4
Determine what shape you prefer in a ring, meaning something completely round, with a no-slip grip, angular or square.
Step5
Try on a few of your preferences and a few rings that are similar to your preferences. Evaluate the rings based on comfort, appearance and budget.
Step6
Look at yourself in a full-length mirror so you can get a feel for what you look like with the ring on.
Step7
Engage in a few normal activities with your hands while the ring you prefer is on. Take your wallet out of your back pocket, rest your hands on the glass counter, write a note and, if possible, open a door while the ring is on. This will allow you to see if the ring is a good fit and if the shape you chose fits your lifestyle and level of comfort.

Tips & Warnings

  • Though it's your ring, it may be a good idea to include your significant other in the ring-buying process. She may want to have a say in the ring or can act as a second pair of eyes and ears when it comes to decision-making.
  • Discuss early on whether you want your ring to match your fiance's ring. Many women may assume it will, so it's usually good to get that talk out there, regardless of what you end up deciding.
