You can watch full-length DVD movies, television shows and podcasts on your cell phone absolutely free. This is made possible by freeware applications such as Eazy VCD. This application can automatically detect settings for a DVD, so you just need to choose the folder you want the movie saved to, the length of the CD-R for the output.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

 • Cell phone with a 128mb or above MiniSD card reader or Transflash (MicroSD)
 •
PC with a DVD-ROM drive
 •
Card- reader
Step1
Download the Eazy VCD application (See Resources below). Install it to your hard drive.
Step2
Place your DVD in your computer's DVD drive. Open and run the Eazy VCD application. Under "Encoding Quality," choose "Lowest Quality (Very Fast)." Now click "Rip It." This will begin the encoding process, which will take a few hours.
Step3
Download the Nokia Multimedia Converter 2.0, another freeware application. (See Resources below for the download link).
Step4
Open the Nokia Multimedia Converter 2.0 application. Click on "File" and then "Open." Find and select the file that Eazy VCD created (this is an .mpg file, typically saved in the C: drive by default. Click on "Convert." This will take about an hour or so. After the conversion, click on "File" and then on "Save," and save the file to your desktop or other location.
Step5
Place the Transflash/MiniSD into its adapter. Insert this into your PC's SD card-reader. Navigate to the folder called " My_Flix" (or a similar name). Drag the file that you just converted (it will be in .3gp format), and save it to this folder. If you don't see the " My_Flix" folder, just insert the card into the phone, power it on and off and the folder will be visible.
Step6
Place the card into your cell-phone and power up the phone. Go to your "My Flix" menu and pick your movie. It will take the movie about three minutes to load.

Tips & Warnings

 • You need the 128mb or above MiniSD card or MicroSD card because each movie is about 80mb).
 •
Instead of the Nokia Multimedia Converter 2.0, you may use a commercial software title such as Xilisoft Video Converter or Quicktime Pro.
 •
Eazy VCD will also support the SVCD, XVCD, and XSVCD formats.
 •
It is legal to convert a movie in this manner, as long a the DVD has been legally obtained, rather than downloaded P2P or BitTorrent.
