Step 1
Introduce new foods to your toddler just a few at a time. Be sure to making eating a pleasant time. They will associate happiness with eating.
-
Step 2
Offer your toddler bite sized foods such as cereals, fruits, or vegetables. Make sure that it is small enough for them to chew without choking and also so they can pick up with their fingers. Other foods to introduce to your toddler include pieces of cheese, milk, eggs, breads, or pasta.
-
Step 3
Keep offering your child the food even when they don't accept it the first few times. It may take some time for your toddler to become familiar with a new food.
-
Step 4
At dinner time, give your toddler some of the same things that everybody else is eating. Try vegetables such as green beans or mashed potatoes. If your child sees everybody else eating it, they might try eating it, too.
-
Step 5
Try giving Gerber Graduate foods that have been made for toddlers too. Gerber has developed small trays of foods that have things such as bite sized ravioli or corn. Also there are little containers of vegetables and fruits, too. Gerber Graduates also offer boxes of snacks such as crackers and cookies, too.
-
Step 6
Keep track of what your toddler is eating. Create a chart or keep a notebook. Write down the kinds of foods that you offer your toddler. This way you can see the kinds of foods that your child is eating, and also find out something different that you can offer them as well. Pretty soon, you can begin to create a menu that will work with your toddler's eating habits.
