How to Cycle Downhill
While you may sweat, swerve and swear as you bicycle up a steep incline, once you hit the top of the hill, the rest is gravy. At least it can be, as long as you cycle downhill intelligently. You can cycle downhill without a crash or even a scratch.
Instructions
-
-
1
Switch your bicycle to its lowest gear as you round the top of the hill.
-
2
Stay seated for best balance.
-
-
3
Keep pedaling. Your balance will also be much better if you continue to pedal, which is why you want your cycle in its lowest gear.
-
4
Use brakes to slow down throughout the decent, but do not keep them engaged. That’s just asking for a blowout.
-
5
Keep your eyes keenly on the road ahead. Even the smallest pebble can turn into a giant crash when cycling downhill. Swerve around any potholes, pebbles and other debris.
-
6
Watch where you’ll end up. Make sure the bottom of the hill is clear of traffic, debris or other hazards before you get to it.

Tips & Warnings
Don't let go of the handlebars and wave your heads wildly above your head.
<br>Don’t be a daredevil. Yes, cycling fast is fun, but a downhill ride is one of the easiest times to careen out of control.
