Many cheerleaders and dancers use the open leg partner stretch to warm up and stretch muscles in the legs and torso. But, this stretch is also great for athletes of all sports who need to stretch out their legs before games. Find out how to do the open leg partner stretch in this article.

Instructions

    How to Do the Open Leg Partner Stretch

  1. Step 1

    Grab a friend or teammate to be your partner for this exercise. Then, both of you should sit on the floor, face each other and spread your legs.

  2. Step 2

    Make sure that your feet are touching your partner's feet once you have spread your legs.Then, grab your partner's hands.

  3. Step 3

    Pull your partner towards you slowly, allowing him or her to stretch their back, arms, neck and torso. As your partner stretches out, their face should be facing the floor, and their butt should stay on the ground. Only the upper torso should be moving. Hold this position for ten seconds.

  4. Step 4

    Then, switch and have your partner do the same thing for you. Hold this position for ten seconds. Then switch again.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't pull your partner too fast or too hard. This can cause injury. Listen to each other and adhere to each partner's fitness limits.
