Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Things You’ll Need:
- A CD
- A professional biography
Step1
Set your press release up in an appropriate format. Lead off with “For Immediate Release” at the top of the page, followed by a headline and a dateline that includes a place and date (Philadelphia–4 July 1776).
Step2
Put your vital information in your first paragraph. Repeat the name of the CD, identify the band members, describe where you made the CD and when you made it, and explain what inspired you to make it.
Step3
In your second paragraph, share tantalizing information about the band. Your creative process, the trials and tribulations of the endeavor, little secrets about the band that no one knows–share tidbits to hook your reader.
Step4
Your third and final paragraph should include more entertaining bits, perhaps your future plans, and it should end with contact information: “For information about the xxxxx Fan Club, write to _____”; or “To learn more about xxxxx, visit www.xxxxx.com.”
Step5
Finish your press release with these characters: ### . This indicates to your reader that she has come to the end of the information.
