Things You'll Need:
- Ash Tray
- Common Heavy Duty Tin Foil
-
Step 1
Tear off a piece of tin foil that will comfortably cover the top of the ashtray being used. Leave enough extra foil to fold over the edges.
-
Step 2
After the ashtray has been used and the butts start to accumulate simply cover the ashtray with the tin foil and press down around the edges. You will find that the nasty odor will be trapped within.
-
Step 3
You may consider even putting the covered ashtray under the sink in a cabinet or in a drawer to further contain any odors when not in use.
-
Step 4
When it’s time to empty out the ashtray, rather than just dumping the butts into the trash can, which will continue to smell, simply create a pouch with the tin foil and dump the butts and ashes into the pouch, fold over tightly into a ball and toss the foil into the trash with all the trapped butts and odors within. You should not be able to smell the butts at all saving you a trip to the outside trash can.
-
Step 5
Rinse out the ashtray for a fresh clean start. Another benefit of covering the ashtray with the foil is that you will also be assured that any remaining butts will not continue to burn on.
