Step 1
Use the bed to split the room into zones. This is done by placing the bed midway the room, preferably facing any view. Add a nightstand on either side of the bed. The will give you a good deal of space on each side of the room.
-
Step 2
On the far side of the room create an area for lounging or relaxing. You can use a table and chairs, or you can use a chaise lounge or two. If possible, add some bookshelves or other kind of table, such as a makeup table and mirror.
-
Step 3
On the other side of the room closest to the closet or bathroom, create an area for getting dressed, using your dressers and an ottoman or chair to use for getting dressed. If there is room, also add a standing floor screen for added privacy.
-
Step 4
At the foot of the bed, you can add a TV armoire, or other type of television stand or dresser. If you don’t want a TV in the bedroom, this would be a good place to put a fireplace. There are many on the market that you can just plug in and use.

Step 5
To further identify the different zones of your room, you can place area rugs in one or all of your furniture groupings. If you have wall to wall carpet, it is OK to add a coordinating area rug or two.
