Things You'll Need:
- Loose powder highlighter (to match skin tone)
- Cosmetic sponge
- Large cosmetic brush
-
Step 1
Wash your face and apply a thin layer of moisturizer and foundation makeup. Allow both layers to dry and set. The moisturizer will prep your skin, giving it a smooth surface, while the foundation makeup will even out your skin tone, preparing you for your highlighting.
-
Step 2
Buff off excess foundation makeup around your hairline, eyebrows and mouth. Most people apply too much foundation makeup, but buffing will correct it.
-
Step 3
Choose a powder highlighter much lighter than your skin tone. Those with warm tones in their skin should choose a light cream with gold undertones, and those with cool skin coloring should choose a white highlighter with blue undertones. The lighter the hue, the more dramatic the final effect.
-
Step 4
Sponge loose highlighting powder directly under your eyes. From the side of your nose, follow the lower eye contour up and outwards over your temple. The highlighter should be just above your natural cheekbone.
-
Step 5
Dab more highlighter on the bottom edge of your jaw line, from the middle of your chin out towards your ears. Stay within 1 inch of the bottom of your jaw for the most natural look.
-
Step 6
Brush excess highlighter off using a very large soft cosmetic brush. Use gentle sweeps upwards and away from your face. This will remove excess highlighter powder and reveal a velvety smooth surface with just a touch of highlight, making your cheekbones and jaw seem more prominent.
