Things You'll Need:
- Freehand yoyo
-
Step 1
Tie the string at the end. Most often a freehand yoyo will not have a knot tied at the end of the string. Tie a simple knot with ample room for your middle finger. You may want to measure the thickness of your middle finger to tie the best knot.
-
Step 2
Slide middle finger through the loop that you tied in the end of the string.
-
Step 3
Hold the yoyo properly. To properly hold a yoyo, turn the holding hand upside down and cup the yoyo with your hand, making sure that your middle finger (the one in the string loop) is wrapped around the outer edge of the yoyo while the palm of your hand is facing upwards.
-
Step 4
Practice using the yoyo. To use the yoyo fling your hand back downwards and the yoyo will slide at good speed towards the ground. The trick is to pop your hand back upwards before the string runs out on the yoyo. This creates reverse momentum and causes the yoyo to climb back up the string and into the palm of your hand.
