Things You'll Need:
- CD rack or racks
- An entertainment shelf or media center
- Paper and pen
- Basic math skills
-
Step 1
Count your CDs. Though this is an arduous task, it's vital in determining how much space you'll need on a CD rack. If possible, count your CDs before you actually purchase a rack.
-
Step 2
Decide whether or not you'd be willing to combine CDs. You can buy CD cases that fit 1 to 2 discs, instead of using their original cases. This is also a great way to protect your album covers from any damage that can come from handling them a lot.
-
Step 3
Buy a CD rack with extra slots for your future CDs. Plan for 100 or so more than you currently have. This will make spacing your discs much easier and inevitably, more attractive.
-
Step 4
Arrange your CDs by genre, artist or alphabetically. It may be a good idea to leave several slots open between different music groupings. This will not only maintain organization, but you'll be able to find that Guns N' Roses classic whenever you wish!
-
Step 5
Buy a CD album. These handy devices hold your discs without taking up space in your living room or media center. You can also flip through them, similar to a photo album. All of your discs will be easy to read and find.
-
Step 6
Leave a slot empty between each CD you place on the rack, if possible. It will add to the visual effect and make scanning your rack much more simple.
