If you are a snowboarder, you should wear a helmet. More and more enthusiasts are wearing helmets on the slopes and there is a good reason for it. Head injuries continue to be the biggest cause of death and impairment to snowboarders. In other words, a helmet can save your life and with the new array of cool colors and styles in snowboarding helmets, there is no excuse not to wear one. When choosing your helmet, the fit is the most important part.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

In order to know the proper size helmet to purchase, you have to measure your head. Wrap a tape measure around your head to get the circumference. If you can't do this yourself before hand, a sales associate can probably help.

  2. Step 2

Once you know the proper size, try on the helmet. The front should sit right above your eyebrows, and is pulled on by holding the straps on either side.

  3. Step 3

The helmet is too big, if it falls over your eyes or onto the back of your neck. There should be no gaps between the helmet and your head, and should not wobble while you have it on. If it is nice and snug, you have the perfect fit.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember a good quality helmet, will offer you the best protection.
  • Bring your favorite pair of goggles with you when you go to buy a helmet. If they don't fit over it, you may have to buy a new pair.
