ISkysoft DVD to PSP Converter is a program for Mac OS X that allows you to convert DVD movies to PSP format. The application is easy to use and has a number of intuitive features that allow you to pick which parts of the DVD you want to encode and various ways to crop and otherwise change the effect of the movie.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • DVD drive
  • Mac OS X
  • 512 MB RAM
  • Display resolution 1024 x 768 or higher
  • iSkysoft DVD to PSP Converter software
  1. Step 1

Confirm that your computer meets the system requirements for iSkysoft DVD to PSP Converter for Mac. The program is compatible with Mac OS X, including Leopard, and it requires that you have at least 512 MB of RAM. Additionally, your system should have a DVD drive, a display resolution of at least 1024 x 768 and an Intel or PowerPC processor of 1 GHz or higher.

  2. Step 2

Download and install iSkysoft DVD to PSP Converter for Mac from the iSkysoft website (see Resources below). There is a trial version available, but if you will be using it on a regular basis and wish to take advantage of all the features, you'll have to purchase the software.

  3. Step 3

Insert the DVD you wish to convert to PSP video into your DVD drive and close any programs that launch automatically.

  4. Step 4

Launch the iSkysoft DVD to PSP software and click on the "Load DVD" button to browse for and select a DVD. Alternatively, you can click the "Load IFO" button to select the IFO files that you want to convert.

  5. Step 5

Check the boxes next to the titles and chapters that you want to convert. If you want the whole movie, choose all the chapters.

  6. Step 6

Manage the output settings. Choose a format from the dropdown menu and name the output file and path. When the conversion process is finished, you will copy this file to your PSP device which will appear in this location. Make sure that you have enough disk space to hold the file and that you can easily locate it.

  7. Step 7

Click on the "Settings" button to create a quality profile for your movie. You can change the video resolution, bit and frame rates of the video as well as setting the audio encoding. If you don't want to make any changes or are unsure about what the changes will look like, click on the "Default" button to use the typical settings. Hit "OK" when you've completed your selections.

  8. Step 8

Use the "Trim" button to trim titles or chapters. When the Trim window opens, drag the Start Time slider to the place you want the clip to begin and the End Time slider to the place you want it to end. Hit "OK."

  9. Step 9

Crop the video before conversion by clicking on the "Crop" button. You can change the size of the frame or remove the black edging by dragging the frame or by specifying the crop values. Choose the aspect ratio from the "Zoom" dropdown menu. This will not only specify the size of the video when it's converted, but also the ratio at which you can preview the video as it encodes.

  10. Step 10

Change brightness, contrast, saturation and video volume in the "Effect" window. Drag the sliders to preview your changes and choose a special effect from the dropdown, if you wish. Click on "OK" when your changes are complete.

  11. Step 11

Click on the "Convert" button in the main window to begin the conversion process. Check the "Shut down computer after conversion" box if you want the computer to power down when the conversion is complete.
