Things You'll Need:
- Determination
- Phone Numbers
- Escape Route
- Something to Do
-
Step 1
Stay away from bars and celebrations that include lots of drinking. If you are forced to attend such a function, call some sober friends and make sure you have an escape route if the pressure gets too much.
-
Step 2
Keep the day in perspective. Do you even care about St. Patrick? Do you even know what he did? Are you even Irish?
-
Step 3
Remind yourself how awful you’ll feel the next morning, how sick you’ll become and how many empty, useless calories, green beer contains.
-
Step 4
Honestly ask yourself if it’s worth it. Do you really want to ruin the sober path you’re on just because so many others are drinking? Don’t be a lemming.
-
Step 5
If you must celebrate, throw a non-alcoholic party for your sober friends or treat yourself to an outing you've always wanted to go on. Go to the latest movie, museum installation or an evening a spa.
-
Step 6
If all else fails, go find a place to volunteer to help someone worse off than you. See if they got their because of their constant drinking. Having a big heart could be the key that saves you from drinking.
